One very active group in the Tyrone and Bellwood communities is the Boy Scouts.
Getting involved in everything from local service projects to traveling across the United States for Boy Scout camps, local scouts are a big part of the community.
For any younger boys who would like to get involved in scouting, the local Cub Scouts are hosting sign-up nights throughout Blair County.
Unit 3104 will hold sign-up night on September 10 at the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church, beginning at 7 p.m.
Also on September 10, unit 3300 will meet at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Tyrone while unit 3320 will welcome new members at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 7 p.m.
The Warriors Mark United Methodist Church will hold sign-ups for unit 3103 the following night, September 11, at 7 p.m.

Cub Scouting is a year-round family program designed for boys who are in the first grade through fifth grade, or who are seven to 10-years-old.
The 10 purposes of Cub Scouting are: character development, spiritual growth, good citizenship, sportsmanship and fitness, family understanding, respectful relationships, personal achievement, friendly service, fun and adventure and also, preparation for Boy Scouts.
The Cub Scouting colors are blue and gold. They have special meaning, which will help boys see beyond the fun of Cub Scouting to its ultimate goals. The blue stands for truth and spirituality, steadfast loyalty and the sky above. The gold stands for warm sunlight, good cheer and happiness.
