John Alvin Diehl, 57, of 529 East Madison Street, Covington, Va. died Thursday, September 6, 2007 at his residence following a year long battle with cancer.
He was born in Everett, Pa. on February 6, 1950, son of the late Earl J. and Evelyn N. (Price) Diehl. He was married to the former Kathryn G. Davis by Rev. Lee at the Baptist Church in Milesburg, Pa. on July 11, 1970.
John graduated from Juniata Valley High School with the class of 1968. He attended computer training with IBM prior to his military service.
He served with the United States Army from January 1969 to January 1972 with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
He was employed with Mead Westvaco, Covington, Va. as a Tech Team Member.
He has resided in Covington since November 2001 having moved from Tyrone. He was of the Methodist faith, enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood working.
Surviving in addition to his wife at their Covington residence are two sons, Nicolas J. Diehl of Ft. Myers, Florida and Matthew J. Diehl of Covington, Va. and a sister, Margaret Gill and her husband Donald of Huntingdon.
He was preceded by an infant brother Jerry David Diehl who died at birth.
Visitation for family and friends was held at the Cutright Funeral Homes – Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main Street, Alexandria, Pa. 16669 on Saturday, September 8, and funeral services were held Sunday, September 9, 2007 with Pastor Jim Giles officiating.
Interment at Mooresville Cemetery, West Township, Petersburg, Pa.
