First Assembly of God has a variety of activities scheduled in the upcoming months, beginning with Grandparents’ Day on Sunday, September 7.
A special gift will be given to each grandparent present at the 10:30 a.m. service. These gifts are to show appreciation for all that grandparents do.
On Saturday, September 20 at 8 a.m., the men’s breakfast get together will be held at Joe’s Place.
A “Light the Night” planning meeting is slated for Sunday, September 21 at 5:30 p.m.
“Light the Night” is a great alternative for Halloween, organized by the church for boys and girls, along with moms and dads.
Each year’s event is filled with activities like games, prizes, face painting, puppet shows, candy, hot dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate.
This year’s “Light the Night” event is slated for October 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot.
Those wishing to help plan this year’s event should attend the organizational meeting.
Homecoming Sunday at First Assembly has been scheduled for October 5.
This year’s homecoming is a special event as First Assembly celebrates its 75th anniversary.
The guest speaker for homecoming will be former pastor, Rev. Phillip Cochrane, who pastored the church from 1977 to 1989.
Many former members will be returning for this special diamond anniversary event, so plan to attend.
Pastor Glunt previously described homecoming Sunday as a great time of fellowship and an opportunity to see the congregation get to embrace former pastors, and to hear the many memories shared from years past.
Finally, on October 26 at 6:30 p.m. the church will host another of their very popular “Olde Fashioned Hymn Sings”.
Everyone is invited to attend any of the events planned in the upcoming months at First Assembly of God Church, located at 12th Street and Blair Avenue, in Tyrone.
