Joseph J. Rozick, 85, of 901 Belmont Ave., Tyrone died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at his home.
He was born October 21, 1921 in Tyrone Forge, a son of Stephen and Mary (Hyson) Rozick. On April 21, 1951 in Tyrone he married Margaret J. Hoover Stroup. She died April 27, 1997.
Surviving are two daughters, Joleen Angus of Cromwell, Connecticut, Janet Pearson and husband Charles of Tyrone, a son Steven Rozick and wife Patricia of Pittsburgh, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Carolyn Haag and Ann Waite, both of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by a step-son Jon Stroup, five sisters, Catherine Lynch, Mary Schoell, Verna Monohan, Helen Lynch, Barbara Loncher and two brothers Michael and Stephen Rozick.
Mr. Rozick retired in May of 1984 from the production line at PPG Industries, Tipton, following 10 years service. He was previously employed in the accounting department at Westvaco, Tyrone for 27 years.
He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, where he served as a long time head usher and two terms on parish council. He was a member of the Howard Gardner American Legion and a 1940 graduate of Tyrone High School.
He was a US Army veteran of WWII serving as a sergeant with the 786th Military Police Battalion in the European theatre.
Joe was an avid gardener, enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 28, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Church with Fr. Carl Spishak celebrant. Interment with veteran’s honors will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received at Feller Memorial Home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
