Come experience the visual and culinary arts in Tyrone at “An Evening With The Arts,” a celebration of local talent along with international artwork, on Wednesday, October 24 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
The seating is limited to the first 40 people, and tickets are $35 per person. Tickets are available now at the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce office, Burley’s Restaurant and Antique Keeper. The event is sponsored by the Chamber, and for tickets or details call 684-0736.
The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Antique Keeper Annex on 10th Street, which will be art gallery No. 1 with appetizers. At the Annex, there will be a wide variety of stunning artwork from around the world. It will feature prints, seriographs and lithographs by: Maxfield Parrish, R.C. Gorman, Elvin Earle, Helmit Diller, William Prosser, and antique botanical and animal prints.
There will be oil and acrylic paintings by: William Dorsey, Douglas Shively, Francisco Cabello, DeHoyos, Ted Campos, Manuel Lizarraga, Rushakoff, the artist David and others.
The Annex will also feature jewelry by Tyrone artist Joy Torres.
Around 6:15 p.m., at everyone’s leisure the evening will progress to Burley’s Restaurant for art gallery No. 2 and dinner. Burley’s art menu includes chicken roulade or bistro sirloin with a green salad.
As for artwork, Burley’s will feature three local artist: Perry Winkler of the DuBois Gallery, Theresa Johnsonbaugh from Altoona and Dave VanDommelen from Petersburg.
To end the evening, everyone will stroll over to Gardners Ice Cream Parlour for art gallery No. 3 and dessert and coffee or tea. Gardners will feature artwork by Tyrone’s Roger Templeton Sr. and his late wife Natalie who passed away in February of this year. The exhibit will include still life, scenery and portraits by Natalie and scenery and wood carving created by Mr. Templeton.
Natalie grew up in New York City where she attended the High School of Music and Art and the National Academy of Design. Her media of choice was oil and acrylic.
Roger is a native of New Jersey and also graduated from the National Academy of Design in New York City. His media of choice is charcoal and oil painting but he also works in an assortment of other media including woodwork and macrame.
Both Roger and Natalie received the Sydum Award while attending the National Academy of Design.
One of Mr. Templeton’s paintings that will be on display is a farm scene that was on display at the 116th Annual Exhibition at the National Academy of Design in 1942. The same painting was also featured in a edition of Country Magazine.
