Members of the Tyrone Area FFA Chapter were one of 46 teams participating in the 2007 National FFA Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event (CDE).
The competition was held October 24-27, during the 80th National FFA Convention. Team members met with event sponsor representative Michael Bogunia, Director of Sales, of the Firestone Agricultural Tire Division.

During the event, the four-member team takes a written test and demonstrates their skills through hands-on activities. The participants are tested on the following areas: agricultural machinery and equipment, industry and marketing, environmental and natural resources, and structures and energy.
The Tyrone Area FFA students earned a bronze award for a 35th place finish in the entire country.
The National FFA Agricultural Mechanics CDE is sponsored by Firestone Agricultural Tire Division/Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund, as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. It is one of 23 different national events that use the fun of competition to connect classroom learning to future careers.
FFA is a national youth organization of 495,046 student members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture with 7,242 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
