The 9th annual Tyrone Yuletyme Christmas celebration kicks off Friday, November 30 with the Christmas tree lighting in front of the Tyrone Post Office at 6 p.m. The 9th annual Yuletyme Christmas Parade will begin at 6:15 with judging at the Tyrone Post Office, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tyrone. After the parade, stop by the Tyrone Armory to enjoy hot chocolate, sponsored by Joshua House, and cookies, sponsored by the Women’s Club of Tyrone. There will also be a chance to visit with Santa.
On December 1, the Christmas craft celebration in the Armory will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Also visit the train station museum and exhibits.
Other events will include the annual soup tasting contest, sponsored by the Tyrone Community Partnership at the Tyrone Armory on Nov. 29.
There will also be a tree decorating contest. For more information on the tree decorating contest, contact Diane Irwin at 684-5132 or the Chamber office at 684-0736.
New this year, there will be a wreath decorating/chinese auction. Businesses and individuals purchase (sponsor) a wreath and decorate it. It is then displayed in an area business until November 30 at which time the Chamber will collect and take to the Armory for a chinese auction. Proceeds go to the Yuletyme committee to help with advertising and costs.
