Charles B. Richardson, 80, of 505 W. 20th St., Tyrone, PA died at 3:40 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born November 27, 1926 in Tyrone, PA a son of the late Charles and Edith Richardson.
He was married November 7, 1952 at Hollidaysburg, PA to Clara G. Weichel.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, Terry L. Richardson and his wife Judy and Charles E. Richardson of Tyrone, and a daughter Trudy Rae Nelson and her husband Steven of Spruce Creek, PA.
Six grandchildren: Heather Ayers, Dawn Greene, Cara Richardson, Mark Richardson, and Sean and Stephen Nelson.
Five great grandchildren: Morgan Ayers, Lyndsay Greene, Haley Ayers, Kaden Greene, and Ethan Richardson.
A brother Ernest W. Richardson of Lancaster, PA. Three sisters, Gertrude Irvin and Vickie Geissinger of Tyrone and Martha Stonebraker of Albuquerque, NM.
He was preceded by two brothers, James W. Richardson of Scotland, PA and Bobby Richardson of Tyrone.
He was a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1945 and served four years in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Tyrone Sportsmen’s Association, the Blazing Arrow Hook & Ladder Fire Company and the Tyrone American Legion.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his summers at Glendale Lake with his wife and the campers at Zimmies.
He retired in 1987 from Conrail as a Pipe Fitter, and had worked for the Post Office in Daleville, VA, was a salesman for Clearfield Cheese Co., and a machinist at Veeder-Root in Altoona.
There will be no public viewing or visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment at Blair Memorial Park.
