Anna Liese Ruth “Anne” Zimmerman, 77, of 404 W. 16th St., Tyrone, died Saturday morning, January 19, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 21, 1930 at Chicago, Illinois the daughter of the late Herman and Elizabeth (Stiner) Werner.
She was married July 28, 1951 in Tyrone to Lamoine F. Zimmerman.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter Karen A. at home and a son Karl G. of Wespunt, Aruba, N.A.
A brother, Herbert Werner of Altoona and sister-in-law Virginia “Virgie” Werner of Tyrone.
There are several nieces and nephews and her pets, Friskie and Nya.
She was preceded in death by a son Kim H. 12/94; a nephew Mark Werner 7/67; nephew Wayne Werner 11/94 and extended family member, Thomas M. McNelis.
She was a member of the Tyrone First English Lutheran Church and a successful survivor of a 27 year battle with cancer and always embracing cancer patients and survivors. She enjoyed inviting others into her home. She was an advocate if ASPCA and enjoyed reading. She was excited to join those who preceded her in her heavenly home.
She had served more than 20 years as a Clerical Aide and Reading Specialist for the Tyrone Area School District and formerly worked at Chicago Rivet Co., Tyrone Sears Store and Big Yank in Tyrone.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Susan H. Yatta officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Snyder Township.
