The Tyrone-Snyder Township Public Library released today some of the additional activities that will be part of the seventh annual fund raising concert event.
In addition to an absolutely great evening of entertainment, there are always some really nice activities and prizes that become available for those in attendance. This year will be no different. These annual concerts are the ways that the library raises the much-needed funds in order to offset the annual mortgage payments on the new library building in Tyrone.
Slightly before the new library opened its doors for the first time seven years ago, a fund raising goal activity was developed in order to help raise an additional $100,000 to help meet the financial demands of a new library. In particular the mortgage payment. The six previous concerts have been very successful in this area by currently raising over $53,000 towards that magic figure.
What started out to be a simple fund raising attempt has blossomed now into a community event that benefits many other businesses in the area.
“The previous six concerts have brought people in from Hagerstown, Maryland, Syracuse, New York, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Morgantown, West Virginia and all over central Pennsylvania,” offered Chuck Banas, library concert chairman. “Just this past week I received a call from a woman in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania to order four tickets for this year’s concert. After I took her order, I asked if she would like to know who was all performing in the show. Her response was simply, ‘No, I have been to the last four in a row and they have all been terrific. I am sure that this one will be no different,’” added Banas.
There is a quilt that is being raffled off that will be given away to some lucky person. Positively Heaven Quilt Shop has donated this beautiful quilt to the library. Raffle tickets are currently available for purchase at the library and will also be available at the annual concert event on Saturday evening, April 19 at the Tyrone Area High School auditorium. The quilt is currently on display in the library.
In addition to the quilt, a very nice tea and spice basket will be given away to some lucky person in attendance that evening.
“I want to thank Joe Doyle, owner of Tea Merchant 101 in Duncansville, for his continued support of the Tyrone-Snyder Township Public Library. This is the third year in a row that Joe has been there for us and we greatly appreciate all of his efforts,” said Banas.
Located in the Olde Farm Office Centre on Route 22 in Duncansville, Tea Merchant 101 has an unbelievable selection of teas.
“One of the neatest things about Joe and Tea Merchant 101 is the tremendous atmosphere with the many different sights, sounds and aromas available,” concluded Banas.
There will be a few other surprises in store for those in attendance at this year’s annual concert. You will have to be there to take advantage of these activities.
This year’s concert curtain is set to go up on Saturday evening, April 19 at the Tyrone Area High School auditorium. Doors will openly promptly at 6:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. sharp.
Tickets are now on sale at the following ticket locations: Bressler’s Food Mart & Sports, Kopp Drug in Tyrone and the Tyrone-Snyder Township Public Library. Tickets may also be ordered by telephone by calling a special ticket order number at 814-682-1017 during regular library operating hours.
More information will follow concerning this year’s big event. The Daily Herald will continue to bring weekly updates on this year’s concert, including a truly unbelievable announcement next Saturday.
