Anesthesiologist joins Tyrone Hospital staff

Tyrone Hospital is pleased to welcome Christine Gerbstadt, M.D., R.D., board certified anesthesiologist to the Tyrone Hospital medical staff.
Dr. Gerbstadt has more than twenty years of experience as a practicing anesthesiologist.
She is a graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed an anesthesia residency at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a pediatric anesthesia residency at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and an internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Gerbstadt also has a Certificate in Medical Leadership and Management from the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
In addition to her training and education as a physician, Dr. Gerbstadt also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health Nutrition from the University of California at Berkeley and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Medical Dietetics from the Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Pennsylvania. She has completed training at the leadership Institute of the American Dietetic Association.
Her professional experience in anesthesia includes a position with The Anesthesia Experts, Inc. providing services at The Surgery Centre at Pointe West in Bradenton, Fl, Hillstrom Facial Plastic Surgery in Sarasota, Florida, and at Sarasota Plastic Surgery Center.
Dr. Gerbstadt has also provided anesthesia services at a number of hospitals in Pennsylvania including York Hospital in York, St. Joseph Hospital in Reading, Mount Nittany Medical Centre in State College, Brownsville General Hospital in Brownsville, Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihne and at Altoona Regional Health System as a partner in Blair County Anesthesia. She also served for a number of years as Vice President, partner and attending anesthesiologist at Ohio Valley Anesthesia Associates in McKees Rocks. Dr. Gerbstadt was also an attending anesthesiologist at Mercy Providence Hospital in Pittsburgh. She also provided direct patient care and served in an administrative capacity at LifeCare Hospital of Pittsburgh.
In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Gerbstadt serves as Medical Director of Mobile Medical Services in Pittsburgh. She also served as a public speaker for the Institute for Natural Resources, a non-profit continuing medical education organization where she provided education on nutrition and health to medical professionals.
Dr. Gerbstadt’s professional memberships include the American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Medical Athletic Association, American Dietetic Association, Sports, cardiovascular and Wellness, and Nutritionists and Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Groups.
