Placing the first angels
Representatives of the Tyrone Hospital Development Council gathered with some of their family members to place the first angels on holiday trees located in the hospital’s main lobby. The Tyrone Hospital Development Council invites the public to attend the eighth annual Tree of Light ceremony to be held in the main lobby at Tyrone Hospital on Monday, December 1 at 6 p.m.
The ceremony is conducted as part of the Development Council’s annual Tree of Light fund raiser to benefit Tyrone Hospital. Holiday trees are now on display in the hospital’s main lobby displaying angels purchased to remember deceased loved ones, to honor those living, or to recognize a business or organization.
The ceremony will include brief comments from hospital leaders, vocal performances by St. Matthew’s school choir, a spiritual message delivered by reverend Norman Huff and the finale is the lighting of an exterior tree followed by an informal reception and refreshments.
This year attendees can also enjoy works of holiday art painted on a portion of the windows in the hospital’s main lobby. The window art is provided by art students from Tyrone Area High School as part of a community project organized by the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with art teacher Mr. Feather and Tyrone Area High School.
All proceeds from the Tree of Light will be used to help pay for renovations to portions of Tyrone Hospital’s emergency department and the patient registration area. The planned changes will create greater patient privacy in both areas and also increase security in the emergency department.
Those wishing to purchase an angel may do so by submitting a donation of five dollars or more for each name being honored or remembered, and a completed Tree of Light form to Tyrone Hospital c/o the marketing office at Tyrone Hospital.
Forms are available for pick-up at the hospital’s main registration desk or by calling 684-6348.
