Game Scores: TYRONE – defeated Bellwood-Antis 27-6, Huntingdon 21-0, Central Mountain 6-3, Bald Eagle Area 41-0, St. Mary’s 44-7, Philipsburg-Osceola 35-7, and Lewistown 48-7; lost to Clearfield 35-34. PENNS VALLEY – defeated Lewistown 40-13; lost to Central 13-12, Bald Eagle Area 14-13, Huntingdon 24-2, St. Mary’s 28-0, Philipsburg-Osceola 21-17, Clearfield 56-28 and Bellefonte 14-0.
LAST MEETING: Penns Valley out-gained Tyrone 248-200 and racked up 11 first downs to the Eagles’ 7, but it was Tyrone scoring early and holding on for a 10-7 victory at Gray-Veterans Memorial Field on Friday, September 14, 2007.
Shayne Tate rushed for 129 yards on 16 carries, including a 17-yard touchdown in the first quarter. But it was the third quarter that nearly did the Eagles in, when they had consecutive plays for touchdowns called back on penalties, ahead just 7-3.
After a 32-yard field goal by John Shaffer, Valley eventually pushed the ball 79 tards to the Tyrone 4, but a penalty and a fumble took the Rams back to their the 20, and Kyle Hockenberry was tackled after a 1-yard gain when scrambling on fourth down.

JOHN FRANCO: To play winning football, you can’t just turn it on and off. I think that’s getting through to the seniors on this team. Playing hard is a habit. If you don’t play hard every game, somewhere along the way, you’re going to lose.
MARTIN TOBIAS: Defensively, they’re very sound and tough up front. They have a strong defensive tradition. Marty prepares them very well defensively. Offensively, they are effective enough to allow their defense to keep them in games.
HIDDEN STAT: Tyrone has scored 40 or more in four of the seven meetings against the Rams.
