Tyrone Community Pool to open Memorial Day weekend

The weather has not been the greatest lately, but on May 24, 25 and 26, the pool will be open to the public from noon until 8 p.m.
Other than Memorial Day weekend, May 31, June 1, June 7 and June 8 will have a noon-8 p.m. day. From June 2-6, and June 9-13, the pool hours will range from 4-9 p.m. These are the preliminary dates before the official opening on June 14.
When purchasing a pass, do it before or on June 6 for a 10 percent discount. This is your chance to save some cash by purchasing early, otherwise it will be full price after June 6.
Passes range for different groups of people. For a Family pass at regular price, it will be $70. If you are a non-resident, it is $95. For adults, it is $50 for residents and $75 for non-residents. For senior citizens, disabled veterans, and the youth, it will be $40 for residents and $65 for non-residents. Children ages five and under will get in for free only if they are accompanied by an adult.
For public swimming without a season pass, the pool charges $5 for adults, $4 for ages 6-17 and free for those five and under when accompanied by an adult. Evening rates for public from 6-8 p.m. will be $2 for adults and $1 for ages 6-17.
Wednesday nights you may rent the pool from 6-8 p.m. for $100 with a non-refundable deposit of $50 for the first 50 individuals and $2 for each additional individual thereafter for a maximum of 100 individuals per party. This will start on June 18 and end on August 20.
Friday and Saturday night parties are from 8-10 p.m. and have a $125 rental fee with a $50 non-refundable deposit for the first 50 individuals and $2 per person thereafter with a maximum of 100 people per party.
All parties must be pre-registered. The concession stand will be open upon request, however no grilling or glass containers will be allowed in the pool area. All individuals must be 48 inches or taller to use the pool slides. For more information, please call the municipal building at 684-1330.
There will be a First Splash Swim School this summer for three different age groups: Toddler, Beginner, and Intermediate. For the toddler class, swimmers must have parental accompaniment in the water. Age range is 19 months to four years of age with no water experience. For beginners, ages five and older are allowed to join. The intermediate class requires swimmers to perform a front crawl with face under water and an unassisted back float. The intermediate class ranges from 6-12 years of age.
The sessions will be from 11-11:30 a.m. each day for eight day classes (Monday-Thursday). Each session is $25 dollars per child. Pre-registration is required and is limited to seven children per class. Please call the municipal building for enrollment in a class.
Swimming session dates are as follows. Session one will be from June 16-19, and from June 23-26. Session two is from June 30-July 3, and from July 7-10. Session three ranges from July 14-17, and from July 21-24. Session four will range from July 28-31, and from August 4-7.
There are three special events this season at the Tyrone Community Pool for the public. The School’s Out Splash Hop will be on June 20 to celebrate the end of the school year. July 4 will also be celebrated at the pool, and July 25 will be the last of the three special events this summer. They will all take place from 8-10 p.m. with music, food and games.
The goal of the Tyrone Community Pool is to promote a healthy and fun lifestyle in the community. The new aquatic program offers an exciting, challenging, worthwhile experience that will develop good health habits among the citizens of the Tyrone area.
