‘The Four of Us’ to perform at First Assembly of God

“The Four of Us”, a local bluegrass country group from the Mount Union area will be appearing in concert at First Assembly of God Church on May 18.
The church is located on 12th Street and Blair Avenue and the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.
“The Four of Us” has been together for eight years, starting as a group in 2000, singing at local churches, street fairs and reunions among other events.
The group started out ‘porch pickin’ with Fred Fortney playing the mandolin, Tom Hancock playing the guitar and banjo and Web Smith on the bass guitar.
They sang publicly for the first time at the Singers Gap Church.
Two years later, Andy Noel joined the group as a rhythm guitar playing, freeing Tom to play the banjo.
All four group members sing and they write most of the songs they perform.
“The Four of Us” members come from a variety of backgrounds. Fred is a brick layer by trade while Tom owns his own construction business. Web works for the postal service and Andy is an electrician.
Pastor Glunt of First Assembly invites everyone to come hear “The Four of Us” on May 18, saying “You’ll love this music, so come ready to tap your feet.”
Also, don’t forget the church’s 10:30 a.m. worship service is being broadcast live over WTRN radio during May.
Looking ahead, on Father’s Day, June 15, all the dads present in church will receive a gift also.
On June 22 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a baptismal service for those wishing to be baptized in water. First Assembly members who wish to participate in this special event should contact Pastor Glunt.
Finally, the church will once again host its Sunday night fellowships.
The fellowship night is scheduled for the first Sunday of the month, immediately following Sunday evening service.
A new addition to the First Assembly lineup of events is “Friendship Dinners” which will be held after the morning service on the fifth Sunday’s of the month, when there is one.
The Friendship Dinners will occur four times a year and are being promoted to encourage fellowship and to allow a time for people to come to know others who attend the church.
Everyone is invited to come and make a friend.
