Struck a pole
On April 1, state police reported Randall T. Keith, 47, Altoona was traveling north on SR 1013 near Sickles Corner in Tyrone Twp. For unknown reasons, Keith left the roadway in his vehicle and struck a pole. Keith then fled the scene. Anyone coming in contact with him is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police.
Stole aluminum boat
State police reported that between the dates of March 20 and April 2, Richard Yon, RD 1, Altoona told police that someone stole a 14 foot aluminum boat off of his property in Antis Twp. The boat is valued at $1,400. Investigation continues.
On April 2, Jendi Kay Hoover, 36, Tyrone told state police that her brother-in-law, John Allen Hoover, 29, Tyrone pushed her and pulled her hair at her residence at Sickles Corner in Tyrone Twp. John Allen Hoover was later found in his vehicle along SR 453. He made contact with his sister and she came to the scene to transport Mr. Hoover to her residence.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a one vehicle crash on April 2 that occurred along SR 550 at the Blair/Huntingdon County line. Jonathan Postreich of Tyrone was traveling north on SR 550 when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled off the roadway striking the embankment. After striking the embankment, Postreich then impacted a tree and overturned. Postreich refused medical treatment at the scene. During the investigation it was determined that Postreich had consumed alcohol prior to crashing and was arrested for DUI. Tyrone Fire Company and Warriors Mark Fire Company assisted on the scene. Postreich was not wearing his seat belt during the crash. His vehicle was towed from the scene by Hunter’s Towing.
On April 2, Altoona Police reported that Travis Hammond, an employee of G&R Excavating and Demolition, had a 275 gallon fuel tank loaded on a trailer he was hauling. The tank was observed leaking fuel by a motorist in the area of Cannon Street and Route 764 in Altoona. The motorist promptly phoned 911. The vehicle was subsequently stopped at 6th Avenue and 26th Street well after the initial observation of the motorist. DEP was called along with Pennsylvania State Police. Several citations were issued for traffic related offenses along with federal and state violations.
