Lady Eagles shut out by Southern Huntingdon

The Tyrone girls softball team made the long trek to Three Springs on Tuesday to face Southern Huntingdon.
The Lady Rockets (5-1 overall) scored four times in their first at-bat and followed that with four more in the second inning to pretty much settle the decision early.
The Lady Eagles were held to two singles by Southern’s Tia Whitsel, who picked up her 50th career win last week.
“We are not hitting the ball very well right now but in defense of the girls the umpiring was inconsistent,” said Tyrone softball coach Lois Loncher. “Two hits are not going to win many ball games. We play BEA on Thursday and Bellwood Friday.”
Teanna Kobuck and Lindsay Christine got the only base hits and Ariane Miller drew a base on balls, for Tyrone, off Whitsel, who walked one and struck out seven.
Ariane Miller fanned four and walked five for the Lady Eagles.
Tyrone (0-6) plays Bald Eagle Area today on the hilltop diamond at the Harry K. Sickler Athletic Complex. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
