TACO raises over $9,000 during auction

The Tyrone Area Community Organization’s Annual Radio Auction, which is the group’s largest fundraiser of the year, was held Feb. 9-10.
This year’s auction raised over $9,000, and “the money TACO makes goes back into the community,” according to TACO President, Ruth Brower.
TACO sponsors such community events over the year as the Easter egg hunt, the fish rodeo, the Tyrone Halloween parade, a Distinguished Service Award and Boss of the Year Award.
It also sponsors pee-wee and teener league baseball teams and a youth football competition as well as awards four scholarships of $500 each to seniors at Tyrone Area High School.
Because of the success of the Radio Auction, TACO is also able to help families facing a crisis situation on a case-by-case basis throughout the year.
Chairpersons for this year’s TACO Radio Auction were Brower and TACO Vice President, Dave Kaup.
Upcoming events for TACO include the annual Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for March 22 at 1 p.m. at Reservoir Park and the annual Fish Rodeo scheduled for April 26 at Reservoir Park, starting at 8 a.m.
TACO would like to thank all the businesses, organizations and individuals who donated merchandise, gift certificates or cash to make this year’s auction such a success.
