Marion G. Harpster

Marion G. Harpster, 68, of Bald Eagle RD3, Tyrone died unexpectedly Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 8:24 p.m. at the Tyrone Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born April 5, 1939 in Pennsylvania Furnace, a son of the late David and Sara (Saucerman) Harpster. On August 6, 1960 in Port Matilda he married Helen Peterman.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter Lora Lee Zimmerman of Port Matilda, a son Michael George Harpster of Warriors Mark, two grandchildren, Timothy and Matthew Zimmerman and three sisters, Mary Smith of Philipsburg, Eva Schanbacher of Williamsport and Marjorie Walker of State College. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, Leroy, Ernest and a son-in-law Tim Zimmerman.
Mr. Harpster retired in 1999 from Chem Cut Corp., State College as a machinist tool and die maker following 32 years service. He was previously employed at Jack Frost Construction, State College, J&J Tires, State College and Way Fruit Farm, Stormstown.
He was a member and trustee of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, a member of the Archeology Society, State College, Antique Auto Association and NRA. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a corporal from 1958-1966.
Marion was an avid hunter. He enjoyed working on his tractor and antique cars and being at his hunting camp.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Pastor Patricia Gable officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
