Dr. Edwin Hasson

Dr. Edwin Hasson, age 82 of Westwood Manor, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in the Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City.
Born August 17, 1925 in Irvona, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Joseph Hasson and the late Anna Malin.
Dr. Hasson was a retired school administrator for Butler Area School District. He was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church. Dr. Hasson served with the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division during WW II. He earned his B.S. degree from Lock Haven University (formerly Lock Haven State Teachers College) and his Doctorate degree from Penn State University. Dr. Hasson was past president of the Butler Area School Board, a member of the MORA club, the Butler Planning Commission, the Golden Tornado Foundation, and the Butler County Vo-Tech.
Dr. Hasson is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Bobby (Kara S.) Maxwell of Volant, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Brittany C. Schmidt, and Kelli S. Maxwell; and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Dr. Hasson was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes M. Feigh Hasson whom he married on May 25, 1947 and who passed away on September 18, 2007. He was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Pamela Gardner of Slippery Rock United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
