Altoona hands Eagles boys first loss in pool

The Tyrone boys suffered their first loss of the season, on Wednesday evening, to Altoona, in the home atmosphere of the Tyrone Area pool, despite setting two school records. In fact, both records were set in losing causes. The 200 medley relay team of Ethan Nulton, Allen Hosko, Dustin Elder and Ian McGregor finished second to Altoona in a new record time of 1:52.16, and then Nulton broke the Eagles’ school mark in the 100 backstroke with a time of :58.17 in a second place finish.
Altoona stretched their perfect mark to 8-0 with the 102-68 triumph, while the Golden Eagles drop to 6-1.
Dustin Elder was the Eagles only double winner in the individual events with victories in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle. Nulton won the 200 freestyle and Hosko captured the 100 breaststroke.
The Altoona girls (6-2) defeated the Lady Eagles (2-4-1) in the girls meet, by practically the same score 105-64.
Salena Bradigan won the 100 butterfly, for the Tyrone girls, Kelly Pearson won the 100 freestyle race and the relay squad composed of Brittany Day, Pearson, Bradigan and Chynna Beisel won the 200 freestyle relay.
