Tyrone 8th Grade opens Keith League with win

The Tyrone Eighth Grade team will be participating in a league at Keith Junior High School this season.
The first game was last Wednesday night against Keith Green which Tyrone would win 43-34.
Tyrone got off to quick start behind Steve Franco and Richard Crabtree. A Crabtree three-pointer sparked an early 9-2 lead. From there, Franco started to do his work. Hauling in great passes from the likes of Crabtree and J.D. Dorminy, Franco was able to dominate the paint. He would chip in with 17 first half points.
At the start of the second half, Tyrone would come out on fire once again and would get the lead up to 15 points, which would be the biggest lead of the night.
A few missed shots and turnovers would allow Keith to get back into the game and trim the lead to three.
That’s the closest it would get though as Tyrone would regain their composure and pick up their defense. With Tyrone clinging to a 3-point lead, J.D. Dorminy would steal a pass and take it the length of the court for layup to push the lead to five and Tyrone would never look back.
Kaleb Chronister chipped in with eight crucial second half points including a key “and 1” on a reverse layup that all but sealed the deal. Tyrone also got a key basket from Cody Dickson down the stretch to preserve the lead. A few free throws would push the final margin to nine.
Steve Franco led the way with 23 points. Crabtree finished with 12 points and Chronister poured in eight. Tyrone’s next game is December 17.
