Tyrone Middle/High School forced into lockdown

Yesterday, the Tyrone Area Middle and High School was forced to go into a lockdown for about an hour in the morning, due to rumors of threats.
School district spokesperson Tanya Sharer told The Daily Herald the school administration was “working strictly on rumors”. The administration wasn’t sure if the rumors started by phone, email or text messaging.
“The administration felt they needed to follow through… and make sure everything was okay,” added Sharer.
She said state police were also on hand as a show of presence during the lockdown situation.
Sharer said everything proved to be okay, and the lockdown was over at 10:38 a.m.
Other reports to the Herald included that several children were picked up from school after the lockdown by their parents or relatives, due to continued concerns.
