Busy month planned at Christ United Methodist Church

In an ongoing attempt to raise funds for the church, the Ways and Means Committee at Christ United Methodist Church will host a theme basket auction on Sunday, November 11 at 1 p.m. in the large Sunday School room.
Light refreshments will be provided by the committee.
Any church members who are able to create a basket for the event are asked to bring the baskets to the church by Friday.
Also on November 11, a special service for veterans will be held on at Christ UM Church at 7 p.m.. to honor and recognize World War II veterans of northern Blair County.
On behalf of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, State Representative Jerry Stern will be presenting a token of appreciation to those extraordinary citizens who saw military service during WWII.
Rev. Barry Neal invites the public to attend the special Veteran’s Day service and thank these special men and women who served during those war torn years.
Pictures of WWII era veterans will also be on display. To s hare a picture of a loved one, submit photos to Virgie Werner, along with information, by November 9.
Sunday, November 18 will be the Anniversary, Apple and Appreciation Luncheon at Christ UM Church.
The congregation will celebrate the 152nd anniversary with a service of worship that will feature a time to honor the ministerial sons and daughters who were a part of the church family.
A number of these men and women have been invited to attend worship service, Sunday school and the annual appreciation dinner.
Also that day, the traditional “Apple Sunday” gathering of canned goods, dry goods and paper products for the Tyrone Area Food Bank will be featured that day.
Members of the church family are asked to bring in items to be placed in specially marked baskets at the front of the sanctuary. In exchange for a donation to the Food Bank, donors will receive a bright, shiny apple.
At noon, everyone will gather together for an appreciation luncheon to celebrate and share a special time of fellowship and thanksgiving. There will be no charge for the dinner, but a free-will offering will be received.
