Upcoming Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce events

The Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce is always busy planning activities for business and community members alike, and the Chamber has several upcoming events in the works.
Executive Director of the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce, Rose Black, recently said that due to the overwhelming response to the Ben DelBaggio Memorial Golf Classic, the Chamber must now add two tee times to the event.
The golf tournament has become a way to honor local businessman and friend Ben DelBaggio, and the event is scheduled for Thursday, September 20 at the Sinking Valley Country Club.
Due to the overwhelming response to the event, there will now be two tee times. First tee off will be at 8 a.m. and the second one will be at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Registration will begin at 7 a.m. Lunch is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. for all golfers and volunteers.
Skill prizes and awards will be presented after the tournament.
“It’s not too late to join many of Ben’s family, friends and business partners in the golf tournament,” said Black. “Enter a team or individual golfer, be a hole sponsor, donate a door prize or volunteer on the course to be a part of this special event.”
Another upcoming event is this month’s Chamber Advantage Night, which will be hosted by Joshua House and sponsored by Keystone Business Support, LLC and Kingdom Solutions, LLC.
There will be an Espresso Bar, refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.
Formerly known as Business After Hours, this month’s Advantage Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 27 from 5:15 to 7 p.m.
Joshua House is the recipient of the 2007 Blair County Hall of Fame Committee’s Choice Award and is located at 123 West Tenth Street.
Chamber Advantage Nights provide great networking opportunities for people to get to know their friends and business associates.
Don’t forget a business card to enter the door prize drawing at approximately 6 p.m.
The cost for the event is $5 per person, prepaid. Deadline for registering for the Chamber Advantage Night is Monday, September 24.
Also, the Eighth Annual Tyrone Area Business and Career Expo is scheduled for Thursday, October 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tyrone Area High School gymnasium.
The purpose of the event is to showcase businesses and higher education institutions for the Tyrone Area High School grades 9-12, Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce members and the Tyrone community. The Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce Business-After Hours will follow the Expo from 4-6 p.m.
Exhibit tables, chairs and limited electricity will be available; however, you will be required to provide your own skirting.
A scholarship, from the event proceeds, is awarded each year to an outstanding graduating senior who plans to further his/her education pursuing a career in business.
Past participation has aided in the continued growth and improvement of this event. The Chamber hopes everyone will plan to attend and contribute toward the success of the 2007 Expo.
Registration fee is $50, excluding educational or non-profit organizations.
Call the Chamber office for more details on any of the upcoming events at 684-0736.
