Harold Eugene Lewis

Harold Eugene Lewis, 60, of Silver Barn Rd., RD1 Box 415, Tyrone, Pa. died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 from injuries of an auto accident at the intersection of Rte. 26 and Rte. 30 near Everett, Pa.
He was born July 15, 1947 at Strodes Mills, Pa. a son of Howard and Mary J. (Smith) Lewis.
He was married August 5, 1967 in Tyrone to Darlene Jane Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, a daughter Charlene J. Detwiler and her husband James E. of RD1, Tyrone and a son Mark H. Lewis and his wife Amber of RR2, Hollidaysburg.
Also, granddaughters, Danica K. Lewis and Veronica J. Detwiler, his parents, Howard and Mary Lewis of Grottoes, Va., a brother Wilbur of Clearfield and sisters Karen Connelly of Warriors Mark and Judy Russell of Penn Laird, Va. and his mother-in-law Lola J. Smith of Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Revere Smith.
He was a graduate of State College High School.
He was the former owner and operator of a dairy farm in Half Moon Twp., then owned and operated Lewis Trucking and bred and raised Quarter Horses in Sinking Valley.
He was a member of the National FFA; the PA Quarter Horse Assn.; the American Q.H. Assn.; the OOIDA and the Huntingdon Horsemen Assn. and the National Sniffle Bit Assn.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed singing country music.
He especially enjoyed breeding and raising Quarter Horses and showing them at competitions and shows with his granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 20, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Vicki Johnson officiating.
Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Sinking Valley.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour before the service on Monday.
