Tyrone VFW 13 and 14 year-old Teener League All-stars selected

Fifteen young men from the Tyrone Kiwanis and Sprankle’s Automotive Teams have been selected to represent the Tyrone VFW Teener League Program in the upcoming regional and possibly state baseball tournaments. Both regular season teams included some really solid ball players and those selected will make for an exciting month of baseball in July.
The players selected from the Tyrone Kiwanis Team, (who won the regular season playoff championship and finished second in the regular season standings) include; Jeremy Miller, James Russell, Korry Cowher, Trevor Jackson, Derrick Dasher, Caleb Snyder, J.D. Dorminy, and Markus Wagner.
Players selected from the Sprankle’s Automotive Team (who finished third in the regular season standings) include; Jared Templeton, Jordan Faretta, Derrick Emigh, Robbie Marlett, Ian Murray, Corbin Nevling Ray and Jesse Shaffer. Jeff Rawson from the Kiwanis Team was also selected to play but had other priorities and decided not to play.
The coaching staff includes; Mark Jackson (Head Coach), Marvin Murray (Assistant Coach), Eric Dasher (Assistant Coach), Todd Templeton, (Assistant Coach) and Joe Faretta, (Scorekeeper and Volunteer Assistant).
The All-star Team’s first practice was held on the 4th of July from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The boys were most definitely surprised at the start time selected for practice. A scrimmage is planned for Friday night at Ferner Field versus an All-star team from Huntingdon and our first regional playoff game is scheduled for this coming Monday at Ferner Field.
Coach Jackson’s outlook on this group of boys is that “The Sky Is the Limit. These boys all get along real well together and the talent is definitely there for them to go as far as their abilities and actions will let them. They are a great group of young men and here is another opportunity for them to show what they are made of.”
