‘A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline’

Kate Coltabaugh as Patsy Cline Paula Pheasant rehearsing the back-up singers

The Tyrone Community Players’ own Kate Coltabaugh is reprising her portrayal of Patsy Cline in the upcoming production of “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline.”
The show is being presented at the Tyrone Elks Lodge in August. The August 9 presentation is the show only, while the August 10 and 11 performances are dinner theatres. The dinner will be served by the Elks at 6:30 p.m., and curtain time for the show all three days is 8 p.m.
Prior to the Elks performances, the cast and crew will entertain with one show only at the Casino in Altoona. Dinner and “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline” will be presented on Friday, August 3.
Kate Coltabaugh is a Tyrone Area High School and TCP veteran. While in high school, she participated in many Drama Club productions and sang with POPS Extension. Her involvement with TCP includes “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Steel Magnolias,” and “Seussical the Musical.” Additionally, she was Peter Pan in the Players’ production of that show, and she embodied the spirit of Patsy Cline in “Always Patsy Cline” done in 2003.
Her back-up singers in the show include two TCP veterans and one newcomer to Tyrone audiences. Patrick Stalter of Altoona joins veterans Bill O’Brien and Ron Hildebrand, both of Tyrone, as back-up singers in the show.
Bill O’Brien appeared in “Guys and Dolls,” “Oklahoma,” “A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream” and “The Mikado.” Ron Hildebrand was seen in “A Little Night Music,” “Music Man” as a member of the barbershop quartet, and “The Fantastiks.” Patrick Stalter, a 9th grader at Altoona’s Keith Junior High School, plays in the marching band, sings with the Concert Choir, the Chamber Choir, the Keith Jazz Band, and plays flute in the Hollidaysburg Alumni Band.
TCP veteran Cindy Bennett is directing the show. Paula Pheasant is the show’s musical director and rehearsal accompanist. For ticket information, call the TCP Arts Line at 684-ART2.
