Another great Tyrone Area Community Day to be held at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park

This year’s annual Tyrone Area Community Day, scheduled to be held Friday, August 3 at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, is gearing up to be the biggest and best yet.
The day is filled with fun activities for Tyrone area residents, and all Tyrone area youth are invited to ride and slide for free! This includes all pre-school, elementary, junior and senior high school youth (through 2007 graduation) in the Tyrone area.
Events throughout the day include: a Tyrone Talent Search, chicken barbecue, Tyrone community raffle and a mini-golf tournament. Also, there will be free waterworks, rapids and rides for all Tyrone area youth.
“We’re looking forward to the third annual Tyrone Community Day to be the biggest and best yet, and we appreciate DelGrosso’s for working with us,” added Mayor Jim Kilmartin.
At 10 a.m. the day’s events will begin as Joshua House is scheduled to host the champion mini-golf tournament, which is open to youth in Kindergarten through 12th grades. Categories include grades: K-five, six through eight and nine through 12. Prizes will be awarded to winners in each category.
From 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Albemarle will present the ride pass distribution. This includes free all-day ride and slide passes to Tyrone’s youth. The free ride and slide bracelets can be picked up at the red and white tent next to the main ticket plaza adjacent to Murf’s patio.
At 2 p.m., children’s games are scheduled to be held at the center of the park. Kids will be able to enjoy a hula-hoop contest, scavenger hunt and much more.
At 4 p.m., there will be the “Great White Football Race”, which is new to the day’s activities this year. The football race down the “Great White Slide” will benefit Tyrone Community Day and a service project around the community. Be at the “Great White Slide” to see if your football reaches the pool first. Footballs can be purchased at the information table and at the red and white tent.
From 4 to 5:30 p.m., the delicious DelGrosso’s chicken barbecue will be held, and tickets will be available to purchase in advance.
