ISDRA announces 2006-07 medal winners

The points have been tallied and the International Sled Dog Racing Association announced the 2006-07 medal winners.
Tyrone area resident Johnn Molburg was named the ISDRA gold medal winner in the adult skijoring three-dog speed class of international competitions.
A first place finish at the Medford Mush in Medford, WI landed him 99.13 points and a third place finish at Three Bear Winter Race at Land O Lakes, WI provided another 62.89 points for Molburg.
Two other first place victories, one at Pine River Run in Merrill, WI and one at Winona State Forest Sled Dog Derby in Lorraine, NY added 43.2 points each. With a combined points total of 248.42 for the season, Molburg was able to seal first place in the Adult skijoring three-dog speed class.
The second place finisher was Jenna Dittmar of Wisconsin with a total point accumulation of 191.94 points and third place went to Melissa Behm of Wisconsin with a final total of 184.04 points.
Molburg also earned a gold medal finish in the adult skijoring three-dog speed class in 2001 and 2002. He won the bronze medal in 2006.
He also was a repeat medal winner in the adult skijoring two-dog speed class, taking first place honors in 2002 and bringing home the bronze medal in 2003.
According to his profile with the International Sled Dog Racing Association, Molburg has been racing sled dogs since 1957. He has received many national and international awards and medals throughout his career.

The ISDRA was formed in 1966 by Canadian and American mushers to organize and unify the sport of sled dog racing. Today, ISDRA annually represents over 100 days of sled dog racing and thousands of individual race performances. Competitions are held for adult and junior divisions and team sizes range from unlimited to one-dog. Racing action begins in mid-October and ends in late March with multiple ISDRA sanctioned events occurring on any given weekend during January and February. Annual membership averages 850 with 55 to 75 sanctioned events.
