Tyrone Borough Council and employees reach agreement on new labor contract

The struggles that Tyrone Borough Council members have been facing concerning a 2007 budget continues. However, they may have moved closer to finalizing that budget.
Borough Council reached an agreement with union employees on a new labor contract and approved it Monday night.
The majority of the borough employees represented by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees ratified the contract last week.
Nonuniformed borough employees will be paying a portion of their medical insurance premiums. This is the first time nonuniformed employees will have to pay a portion of their premiums. They will have to pay 6.5 percent during the first year of the contract. This co-payment will increase .5 percent each year, ending at 8 percent during the final year of the four year contract.
