Snyder Township welcomes new supervisor

At last evening’s special meeting, Snyder Township supervisors Charles Diehl and Jim Burket, appointed Bernie Sherwin to fill the unexpired term of Buddy Daughenbaugh, Jr.
Supervisors received three letters of intent from township residents who wanted to be considered for the position, including Ron Boyles, Lloyd Patton and Sherwin.
Former supervisor, Buddy Daughenbaugh Jr., announced at the end of Jan. 2’s regular meeting that he was resigning as supervisor.
Daughenbaugh, who was serving a two-year term after being elected in November of 2005, said he sold his house and is moving out of the township, forcing his resignation.
The township code stated the current supervisors had 30 days to appoint someone to fill Daughenbaugh’s position.
Township solicitor Allen Gibboney aided Sherwin in taking the oath of office, and Sherwin then took his seat next to the other supervisors for the remainder of the meeting to conduct the township’s business.
