Golden Eagles rough-up Roosevelt for sixth win

Tyrone’s seventh grade basketball team resumed play Thursday evening in a match up against the Rough Riders of Roosevelt in their gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.
The Eagles came out quickly with both teams matched up man to man defensively, and jumped out to an early lead.
The Eagles maintained their lead 20-8 at the half.
Following the break, Roosevelt changed their defense to a box-n-one on Tyrone\’s Steve Franco, who led the Eagles with a game high 16 points, and the Eagles impatient offensive let the Rough riders creep back into the game.
With just three minutes to play in the game, the lead was cut to 26-20.
Following a much needed timeout, the Eagles came soaring back with two timely drives down the middle of the paint followed by layup baskets from Richard Crabtree, who contributed eight points, and a offensive rebound by Nick Patton followed by a putback and one; making a three point play to finish off the Rough Riders and seal the deal for the Eagles 36-24.
The Eagle seventh graders (6-1) will play Bishop Guilfoyle, Saturday at 4:10 p.m. at the Building II in Altoona.
