Tyrone winter concert promises holiday delights

Sounds of the holiday season will ring through the halls of Tyrone Area High School this weekend, with the music department’s annual winter concert.
This year’s program not only features the “POPS” Extension and TAHS Concert Choir but the TAHS Concert Band and guest artist groups Blair County Brassworks and IUP Alumni Saxophone Quartet. Over 100 musicians are eagerly preparing for the performance, headed by high school music teachers Mrs. Catherine J. Young and Mr. Aaron T. Patterson.
The concert, entitled “Noel! Joyous Sounds of the Season” is Sunday, December 17 at 2 p.m. in the TAHS auditorium. Tickets may be purchased at the door and cost $3 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.
Featured music will include a wide variety of season standards, fun favorites, and toe-tapping medleys, concluding with a finale you won’t want to miss!
Also, be sure to check out the other seasonal concerts taking place this coming week, including the 7th/8th Grade Holiday Chorus and Band Concert on Monday, December 18 at 7 p.m. and the 5th/6th Grade Holiday Chorus and Band Concert on Thursday, December 21 at 7 p.m. directed by middle school music teachers Mrs. Laura Harris, Mr. Aaron Patterson and Mr. Tom Verzella.
