Hospital Gallery featuring art work

The Tyrone Hospital Art Gallery is now featuring the work of Natalie and Roger Templeton, Sr., of Tyrone. The Templeton exhibit will remain on display until March 4, 2007.
The exhibit includes still life, scenery, and portraits painted by Mrs. Templeton and scenery and a bas relief wood carving created by Mr. Templeton.
The Templetons formerly resided in eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey and relocated to Tyrone five years ago to be near family. This is the first time their artwork has been exhibited since they relocated to Tyrone.
“We are honored to be the first to display the work of Mr. and Mrs. Templeton,” said Theresa Yanchetz, Director of Marketing at Tyrone Hospital. “This is also the first time we have had a husband and wife exhibit together, since we launched the gallery more than a year ago.”
Mrs. Templeton grew up in New York City where she attended the High School of Music and Art and the National Academy of Design. Her media of choice is oil and acrylic. While at the National Academy of Design, Mrs. Templeton received the Sydum Award, Silver Medal for one of her figure drawings. She has also been active in various art clubs over the years, one of which granted her a blue ribbon award for one of her pieces.
Mr. Templeton, a native of Jutland, New Jersey is also a graduate of the National Academy of Design in New York City. His media of choice is charcoal and oil painting but he also works in an assortment of other media including woodwork and macramé. While at the National Academy of Design, Mr. Templeton received the Sydum Award, Bronze Medal for one of his charcoal drawings. One of the paintings Mr. Templeton has included in the Tyrone Hospital exhibit, a farm scene, was displayed at the 116th Annual Exhibition at the National Academy of Design in 1942. The same painting was also featured in an edition of Country Magazine.
“The Templetons have captured a lot of scenic beauty in their artwork,” said Yanchetz. “I think people will enjoy their work.”
The public is welcome to visit the hospital and view the Templeton’s exhibit. The exhibit is located on the first floor of the hospital.
