TACO to hold spaghetti dinner

The Tyrone Area Community Organization has scheduled a spaghetti dinner for December 14 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Tyrone Armory.
The menu will include: spaghetti, meatballs, bread and butter, apple sauce, dessert and soda. Eat-in or take out is available, but there will be no deliveries. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for four to 12-year-olds, and kids three and under can eat for free.
For tickets, contact Buddy and Ruth at 684-3386 or Dave at 684-1592.
Members of TACO said the proceeds from the spaghetti dinner will go towards postage for the annual TACO Radio Auction mail outs. The auction, which is broadcast live over WTRN every year, is scheduled for February 10 -11, 2007.
Coinciding with the spaghetti dinner, TACO is now selling chances to benefit the Eagle Scout Project of Logan Harper. It is a $1 a chance or eight for $5. First prize is a 38” by 57” quilt; second prize is a reversible snowman table runner and third prize is a pumpkin table runner. The items will be displayed in The Daily Herald window on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The drawing is scheduled to be held December 14 at the spaghetti dinner. For chances, contact a member of TACO.
Life Scout Logan Harper is continuing his efforts for a project at Soldier’s Park.
According to a past Daily Herald article, Harper chose Soldier’s Park because of the veterans in his family. He said he wanted to do “something with concrete.” The project will consist of a bench and picnic table placed on concrete pads. He said the bench and table will be bolted so they can’t be tipped. He said the project is estimated to cost about $1,800 and he will have to do fundraising for it.
Harper can be contacted at 684-2554 for more information about his fundraising efforts for the project.
Also, TACO members will again be conducting their annual food drive for the Salvation Army the day of the Christmas Parade. Members from TACO said it makes them feel good to be able to help those in need in the community. Salvation Army representatives said the food TACO collects the day of the parade enables the Salvation Army to help more families in the area. TACO members encouraged everyone to watch for the truck and to give generously.
TACO sponsors community events throughout the year such as the Easter egg hunt, the fish rodeo, the Tyrone Halloween parade, a Distinguished Service Award and Boss of the Year Award.
It also sponsors a pee-wee baseball team and youth football competition as well as awards four scholarships of $500 each to seniors at Tyrone Area High School.
TACO meets the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. and dues are $10 a year. Individuals must be 16-years-old to participate.
