Tyrone junior high closes out season

Penns Valley put up a touchdown in the opening quarter of their junior high football game at Gray Veterans Memorial Field on Thursday night and managed to take home a 6-0 victory.
Little Ram Cody Bjalme scored on a 30-yard scamper, and the two-point conversion try was stopped by the Tyrone defense.
Zach Gault and Tyler Hertzler each recorded a quarterback sack to lead the Eagles defense, who held their opponents to a single score.
The Tyrone offense was able to move only sporadically however, failing to score on three separate trips inside the Penns Valley 10-yard line, or as Tyrone coach Dan Plummer referred to it “The Red Hot Zone.”
“The lack of consistency has plagued us all year,” said Plummer. “We played well enough to win, the boys all played hard and didn’t give up. We just couldn’t quite get it done when we were down close and needed to score.”
Kyler Johnson rushed for a team-high 84 yards on 14 carries, Zach Knable had nine rushes for 60 yards, Cody Smith added 16 yards on six totes and Doug Rudy got 10 yards on his only carry of the game.
“I wish all the ninth graders well,” said coach Plummer. “I expect them to do good things in their varsity careers.”
The Tyrone junior high closes out the 2006 season with a 3-6 mark, that includes three losses by six points or less.
