Special events planned at First Assembly of God Church

First Assembly of God, located on 12th Street and Blair Avenue in Tyrone, has several special events to look forward to in the upcoming months.
First up, the Fall Mission’s Banquet with Missionary Rick Wislocky, missionary to Hungary, will be held Saturday, October 14 at 6 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and table service. Beverages will be provided.
Church members and guests will welcome mission’s speaker Jeremy Sweeten on October 22. Sweeten ministers to the Jewish people of New York City.
Also, now that summer vacation is over, youth group has once again started meeting.
All girls and guys in seventh grade through 23-years-old are invited to youth group on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
Once again, First Assembly will host the Election Day Cafe during fall election, November 7. This year, all funds raised will go toward costs for the Youth Convention.
Finally, don’t forget “Light the Night” will be held Thursday, October 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. to provide an alternative during trick-or-treat.
“Light the Night” is a wonderful place to bring your children. It provides them with an evening of fun, in a safe and supervised environment. There will be games and prizes, face painting, puppets, and of course treats. Candy, hot popcorn, hot dogs and beverages will be provided.
“Light the Night” is for kids of all ages, and moms and dads are welcome too. It will be held in the church’s parking lot, behind the Burger King.
Pastor Glunt remarked, “Every year guests at our ‘Light the Night’ want to know what it costs. We want to emphasize again, everything is free. This evening and the food are all provided for, and donated by, the folks in our congregation. We ask for no donations to help fund this event.”
In case of inclement weather, “Light the Night” will be held in the church fellowship hall.
Volunteers will meet on Saturday, October 21 at 11 a.m. to pack candy bags and prepare for this special event.
