THDC Sixth Annual Golf Tournament achieves outstanding results

The Tyrone Hospital Development Council has announced the results of its Sixth Annual Golf Tournament.
Funds raised will be used to purchase orthopedic surgery equipment for Tyrone Hospital.
Randy Miles, Sr., Chairman of the Tyrone Hospital Development Council said, “This event seems to get bigger and better every year. It is both amazing and touching to see people support the community and Tyrone Hospital in this way.”
Miles said the net funds raised were $19,055.12.
“We have seen an increase in net funds raised from this event each year. All of this happens because of the hard work and dedication of the Development Council members and the generosity of many area businesses, community members, and members of the Tyrone Hospital family.”
Miles said the Development Council is pleased to be supporting the hospital’s orthopedic service this year. The hospital’s orthopedic service expanded recently with the addition of Dr. Chris McClellan of University Orthopedics Center in Altoona, to the hospital’s medical staff. The equipment the Council purchases will allow doctors to do a wider variety of orthopedics cases and as well as upgrade some the current equipment.
Miles said expansion of the hospital’s orthopedic service means more people can get orthopedic care locally.
Each year the Development Council identifies capital equipment needed by the hospital and conducts several fund raisers to help purchase that equipment. The Development Council’s fund raising goal for orthopedics this year is $32,000.
“Thanks to the generosity of the community, many area businesses and the support from the Tyrone Hospital family for the golf outing, we are well on way to achieving this year’s goal,” said Miles.
Miles said the Development Council has three additional fund raisers coming up almost immediately. There is a book and gift fair scheduled for October 30 – 31, a bath product sale November 13, and the Council’s annual Tree of Light campaign that runs from October through December.
