Different ways to help animals at CPHS

The animals at the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society always need support, and there are several different ways in which area residents can help.
First, old inkjet cartridges from the computer can be dropped off at the shelter, where inside the lobby, there is a big carton just waiting to be filled. Cartridge World, Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, has outfitted CPHS with the special recycling box and signed the shelter up for their program that pays for turning in used cartridges. The shelter will receive $1 to $2 for each used cartridge it turns over to Cartridge World. The cartridges are then cleaned up and re-fitted for re-sale.
Those who enjoy horses can go for a fun ride at the CPHS “Saddle Up” event on September 23 hosted by the Logan Valley Broncs equestrian club in Bellwood. Their great facility in a beautiful wooded setting with trails, riding/show ring, clubhouse and outdoor barbecue pit is an excellent location for this enjoyable fundraising ride. For more information, to sign up or volunteer to help, call Penny Prough at 329-5547.
Also, CPHS has an on-going wish list for those who would like to donate an item to the shelter, which can include: kitty litter, puppy and kitten food, leashes and collars, toys and treats for the animals, bleach and laundry detergent, medium-sized gloves for cleaning, old blankets and towels, copy paper, postage stamps, hand sanitizer and paper towels.
