CPHS pet calendars on sale

Local pet owners are lining up to buy the new “Picture Perfect Pet” 2007 calendar now on sale to benefit the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
The full color, glossy print calendars feature over 70 local pets who competed for the honor of being pictured as a month, on a special “honorable mention” page or on the front/back cover.
“This is our second year of producing the calendar and we think we’ve ‘kicked it up a notch’,” said Dave Hopkins, CPHS Director of Fundraising/Public Relations.
Pet owners this year raised over $20,000 in the contest, setting a new all-time record by more than $3,000 for an individual fundraising event to benefit the shelter’s homeless animals.
The calendars sell for $7 each ($5 to CPHS card-carrying members) and are carried by some local retailers, veterinary offices and the CPHS shelter and thrift shop. Among those signed up to carry the calendars are The Daily Herald, Chris’ Hallmark, Brew Zoo (both in the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center), Thompson Pharmacy (Chestnut Ave.), V.I.P. Pets and Aquarium, Tyrone Veterinary Associates, New Look Uniform, Ambience Photography, Moments Photography, Ray Kauffman Photography, Baronner’s Farm Market, Quality Awards, A-1 Auto Glass, Beaks, Paws and Claws (Hollidaysburg), Veterinary Hospital of Altoona, Rustic Country Furniture (Lakemont) and more to be announced later.
“We have a limited quantity this year and we hope folks will buy them soon so they’re not disappointed,” said Hopkins.
The shelter accepts cash, check, money orders or credit cards as do most of the merchants selling the calendars.
“We want to thank everyone who took part in this project,” said Hopkins. “All the pet owners, our advertisers, our printer (Press Box) and especially our photographers who did such an incredible job.”
