TCP announces 23rd season of live theater in Tyrone

The Tyrone Community Players are very excited to announce their 23rd season of live theater presentations in Tyrone.
This season consists of a creative, original retelling of a classic holiday story, an edgy comedy/drama about life, relationships and love and a brand new offering from the family of one of America’s most beloved musical treasures.
The season will kick off in the beautiful, historic Mishler Theater as the TCP are proud to usher in the holiday season with W.A. Jones’ A Christmas Caroled. This lovely adaptation of the classic Dickens’ ghost story has become the traditional kick-off to the Christmas season in Blair County, and this year the TCP is very proud to produce this work by a Tyrone native, one which they presented in its premier performance in 1999.
With the help of the beloved characters- Scrooge, Bob Cratchitt, Tiny Tim, Jacob Marley and an array of holiday specters- the TCP will open the first gift of the holiday season. Fortified by the haunting score and expert adaptation of the original book, the TCP welcomes you all to enjoy W.A. Jones’ A Christmas Caroled on November 24, 25 and 26.
The second offering in this 23rd season is the Pulitzer Prize winning script, Crimes of the Heart.
The scene is Hazelnut, Mississippi where the three Magrath sisters await the final hours of their grandfather’s life. Their troubles- grave, and yet somehow hilarious- are highlighted by their priggish cousin and a young attorney who is trying to help the youngest sister, Babe, stay out of jail for an ill-advised act of aggression toward her husband.
The play is a story about how these three slightly eccentric sisters escape their past to seek the future- and the telling is so true, compelling and consistently hilarious that it will linger in the mind long after the play is over.
Crimes of the Heart will be presented in the social hall of the Wesley United Methodist Church on March 16 and 17, 2007.
The final main-stage production for the TCP’s 23rd season will be A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline. Fortified by a live band, her sidekick DJ and 21 of Patsy’s most memorable songs, this show is a brand new offering from the family of Ms. Cline and has not yet been performed in Central PA.
A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline will be presented in dinner theater at the Tyrone Elks on Friday and Saturday, August 10 and 11, 2007. If you missed, Always, Patsy Cline due to sold out audiences, don’t let this opportunity pass you by! This musical is guaranteed to be a rocking, soulful, heart-stopping experience.
