Pool tournament to benefit CPHS

Area pool players are being invited to take part in a special “Pet Pool Shoot-Off” created to raise funds for homeless animals at the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
The one-day tournament will be held at the new Black & Gold Tavern (2927 6th Ave. in Altoona).
The event was organized by owner Laverne Kovacs and friends.
The tournament will feature 8-ball singles games, with an entry fee of $10. The action begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. No pre-registration is necessary. Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. The event will also feature donated items as raffle prizes.
All proceeds raised at the shoot-off will go to help homeless animals at the CPHS shelter.
