CPHS to wrap-up pet calendar contest

Over 80 contestants in this year’s “Picture Perfect Pet” calendar contest to benefit homeless animals at the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society are being reminded that the deadline to submit their collections is Saturday, June 10.
“We have some entrants who prefer to turn their donations in early and that’s fine,” said Dave Hopkins, CPHS Director of Fundraising/Public Relations.
“They can also mail them in as long as they are postmarked no later than the tenth.”
Hopkins said entrants are asked to count their collections then make a check out to “CPHS” and include (on the check) the name of their pet and the photographer used.
The contest’s top fundraiser last year was Tracy Zerby of Hollidaysburg who collected $1,348 on behalf of her very cute dog, Pugsley. She got first pick of the featured months and chose October, Pugsley’s birthday month. The lowest amount turned in that still earned a “featured month” was $342.85 by The Winds of Hollidaysburg on behalf of their resident dog (a CPHS “alumni”), Shotsie.
On the “honorable mention” page, Donna Hammel turned in the top amount of $315. The lowest amounts turned in were ties amounting to $225 (Tammy Ingham, Brian Hollenbach and Michele Claar). All three earned a place on that page.
Overall, the 2006 calendar earned over $20,000 to benefit the homeless animals at the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
Top fundraisers for the 2007 calendar will be announced by mid-June with the calendars printed and for sale ($7 each) sometime in the early fall.
