Fire destroys mobile home in Bellwood

A fire destroyed a mobile home in Bellwood last night causing about $50,000 in damages.
Excelsior Fire Chief David McCloskey said crews were on the scene from about 8 p.m. until midnight at the residence where Brian Davis lived on Route 865 North near the Bellwood Reservoir.
McCloskey said the home was a complete loss. There were $20,000 in losses to the contents and the mobile home was valued at $30,000. Mr. Davis lost a dog in the fire.
McCloskey said the fire was caused by the furnace in the home. He said the fire marshal would not be investigating the blaze. McCloskey said he suggested Davis seek assistance from the American Red Cross, but Davis indicated he would not seek such assistance.
In addition to the Excelsior Fire Company, Bald Eagle, Greenwood, Pinecroft, Sinking Valley, Tipton-Antis and Warriors Mark-Franklin fire departments responded to the call along with the Bellwood Ambulance Association.
