The AARP Driver Safety Program has announced driver safety classes for individuals ages 50 and older to be held in March and April.
Individuals 55-years-old or older who complete the eight-hour course are eligible for a state-mandated five percent discount on their automobile insurance policy. In the event there are two or more individuals age 55 or older on an insurance policy, both/all must complete the course to be eligible for the discount.
A $10 fee per participant is required to cover the cost of materials. Checks or money orders should be made out to AARP. All participants must pre-register and pre-pay in advance to assure a seat. Class sizes are limited.
There is a one-day class scheduled March 18 at 8 a.m. at Blair Senior Services, 1320 12th Avenue, Altoona. Also, there is a one-day class scheduled for April 15 at 8 a.m. at Blair Senior Services, Altoona. Another class is scheduled for April 4-5 at 1 p.m. at Epworth Manor, 925 S. Lincoln Avenue, Tyrone. Call Melissa Harpster at 686-2650, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for more information.
