Local Cub Scouts earn swimming awards

Thirteen members of Cub Scout Pack 320 and four members of Cub Scout Pack 300 traveled to Hollidaysburg Area YMCA on Friday, February 17 to complete the swimming requirements needed to earn the swimming belt loop and swimming pin awards outlined by the Cub Scout Sports and Academics Program.
Walter Hammond, YMCA aquatics instructor and Boy Scout merit badge counselor, instructed the program with scout leaders Ron Osborne and Harry Mogle assisting in the pool. After the scouts were trained in water safety and water rescue procedures they had to demonstrate the ability to swim distance, float, tread water, and rescue a victim from the water.
The following scouts earned both swimming awards: Terel Albright, Andrew Bartos, Jesse Branstetter, Ryan Cox, Draven Fisher, Jacob Makdad, Aaron Mogle, Cullen Raftery, Collin Rhoades and Gryfinn Strogen of Pack 320 and Sean Isenberg, Shannon Julian, Larry Kobuck and Simon Wilson of Pack 300.
The swimming belt loop was earned by Christopher Bonsell, Michael Day and Dakota Lucas of Pack 320.
