Tyrone Area girl spikers knock off Mount Union

The Tyrone girls volleyball team traveled to Mount Union on Wednesday evening.
The Lady Eagles improved to 8-3 in the MAC and 17-8 overall by winning in three straight games. Winning by 25-12, 25-20 and 25-23, coach Dave Eckberg was able to get a number of reserves in to gain a measure of experience, along with the win.
Lindsay Christine led the Lady Eagles with 15 service points, while Kim Cherry has 15 assists, Marissa Hoover and Emily Lloyd each had eight kills and Lloyd also contributed 10 digs in the victory.
“You never complain about a win on the road,” explained coach Eckberg, “but I would have liked to have seen more consistency, especially in our passing. We came out flat and really never generated the kind of offense we are capable of doing.but we still have some things we need to work on.”
The Tyrone junior varsity improved their record to 6-7 winning 25-9 and 26-24.
