Lady Eragles rally past Indian Valley volleyball

The Tyrone girls volleyball hosted Indian Valley on Monday evening at the Tyrone Elementary gym.
The Lady Eagles dropped the first game 20-25, but rallied to take the last three 31-29 in a marathon, 25-20 and 25-14 for the victory.
“We started out kind of flat and Indian Valley has a tall team with good hitters,” explained Tyrone coach Dave Eckberg. “We had some trouble adjusting- we lost the first game and were down 22-17 in the second game. That proved to be pivotal, when we came back and started putting some things together. We were able to come back strong and win the final two games.”
Lindsay Christine had 14 service points for the Tyrone spikers, closely followed by Ashley Roth with 13 and Marissa Hoover with 12. Kim Cherry has 31 assists, Emily Lloyd had 18 kills, and 13 digs and Hoover added 13 kills.
“This was a good match for us because we had to overcome some adversity,” said Eckberg. “I needed to see us be able to come back to win. The crowd was tremendous, they helped us to win that second game and ultimately the match.”
The Lady Eagle junior varsity dropped their match to Indian Valley in two games, 25-18 and 25-21 to fall to 4-5.
Tyrone (15-7 overall, 6-2 in MAC division play) also participated in the B-A Invitational on Saturday. The Lady Eagles defeated Central Mountain, Clearfield and McConnellsburg, but lost to Central twice, once in pool play and again in the quarterfinals to finish the tournament 3-2.
Next up for the Tyrone spikers is a trip to Bald Eagle Area on Wednesday with the junior varsity action beginning at 6:30 p.m.
