B-A girls win lucky 13th

The Lady Blue Devils of Bellwood-Antis traveled to Alexandria on Thursday evening for a volleyball match with the Juniata Valley Lady Hornets. With Halloween coming up at the end of the month, thoughts turn to superstitions. It was the 13th dual match of the season for the B-A girls, but the only bad luck had by either team was for the hosts, with Bellwood-Antis sprinting to victory in three straight games 25-10, 25-15 and 25-13 to improve their record to 13-0. Juniata Valley falls to 6-6.
Lauren Carter led the Lady Blue Devils with six service points, including one ace, seven blocks, 18 kills and 10 digs. Rachel Albright added 10 service points and nine digs and Lauren Leap had 18 assists and six service points. Katie Palmer, and Chelsea Wilson also had six service points and Haley Crider had five service points.
“The girls continue to step up their game,” said Bellwood-Antis volleyball coach Stephanie Burner, “and are getting ready for a tough upcoming week with opponents Tyrone and West Branch”
The Lady Blue Devil junior varsity added their 12th triumph in 13 matches with 25-16 and 25-16 wins.
Bellwood-Antis will travel to the Tyrone Elementary School gymnasium for a match against Tyrone’ Lady Eagles on Tuesday and then host West Branch on Thursday, with both matches beginning with the junior varsity at 6 p.m.
